WOCR (Warehouse Order Creation Rule) 7 Questions - 1 Configuration!
1. Which areas are involved for the activity?
Start with the activity area for which warehouse orders (WOs) are to be created. This will narrow down the activity area to focus on.
2. Does any WOCR exist for the activity area?
Check if any WOCR already exists that fulfills the requirement. Here, you also re-evaluate the need of WOCR, whether it is needed or not.
Pay attention! I said "re-evaluate".
3. What is the processing sequence of warehouse tasks (WTs) to create a WO?
Define the sequence in which the WTs should be sorted - for creating the warehouse order - not for executing the WTs that will be part of warehouse order This sequence defines the order in which WTs will be processed through WO creation stage.
4. Which WTs to keep?
The sorted WTs are now filtered. You define the attributes for filtering each WT that should be part of the WO.
5. What is the size of the WO?
The filtered tasks are grouped together under a certain limit. This limit defines the capacity of the WO. Done correctly, this will single-handedly define whether WO can be executed on a shop-floor or is undersized or oversized.
At this stage, you have defined the attributes for CREATION of WO.
6. What is the execution sequence of WTs?
In comparison to question no 3, you define the order in which WTs should be executed in the WO.
7. Is a handling unit (HU) required?
Decide and design whether an HU is needed at the time of WO execution. This is mainly relevant for picking activity.
Once you have the answers to these questions, creating a WO will be quite simple in SAP EWM.
